"This invitation was the fulfillment of a
word I had from God in a dream 18 months ago. In this dream I saw myself
visiting a church to share about the Crown teaching but I was asked to wait and
share with the women, who were very receptive.
There were 70 women at the Jabez breakfast
and I was well supported by one of our volunteers who also kindly offered to be
in charge of the book table.
Whilst in Zurich at the European Conference
last year Ann Bentley gave me a scripture from
2
Corinthians 1 v 4 ..so that we may
comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we
ourselves are comforted by God."

An article from Emerson Swope, who recently traveled to Ukraine
with one of our partnering organizations- Future
Leadership Foundation:
"Teaching at the Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary,
Boryslav, in western Ukraine, blessed my life. Using Crown's 'Bible on
Money,' I taught Biblical financial stewardship. Another piece explored
'honor' and what the Bible says about the church staff wages and
compensation. I had fourteen bright young seminary students eager
to learn and apply new biblical truths to their lives and ministries.
Interaction with these students was refreshing as we searched the
Scriptures, discussed, and engaged in practical application of God's
financial principles. Our sharing together this one week made an
indelible imprint on my life. I am indebted to God and Future Leadership
Foundation for entrusting me with this awesome experience, equipping
future leaders for Kingdom work."

On 18-19 June 2010 a little over 20 Christian business people from
all over Europe gathered for the first ever European Crown Companies
International Conference. The meeting took place in the comfortable
Chopin Airporthotel in Bratislava, Slovakia. Altogether nine of the
European countries were represented.
The theme
of the conference was "Transforming your nation through Christ, one
company leader at a time". The focus was on sharing "best practices" on
running small groups of business owners, commonly called "Crown Forums"
or "Council of Business Advisors" groups. The aim was to encourage each
other to implement a strategy for business ministry, developing Kingdom
leaders and Kingdom companies, leading to personal, business and
marketplace transformation.
Peter Briscoe
opened the conference on Friday by sharing about the vision of Crown
Companies and then allowing each one of the participants to introduce
themselves and share a few words about their experience with business
ministry. Then Martin Maurer led a discussion where participants from
each country were able to share about the current status of Crown Forum
groups in their country, as well as any difficulties they face. In the
afternoon Peter Briscoe described the key elements for success of any
business small group. Participants were able to experience a little of
the dynamic of a Crown Forum group by going through the Check-List and
discussing a specific case study that one of them shared. Later Doug
Hunter, President and CEO of Fellowship of Companies for Christ
International (FCCI), spoke about the purpose of Crown Forums, gave an
overview of the Paths to Purpose curriculum and presented an overview of
business as mission. After dinner, Peter Briscoe and Martin Maurer
presented the future strategy for supporting Crown Forums in Europe.
This includes training opportunities and an intranet site containing all
available resources.
On Saturday Doug Hunter
started the day with a devotional and then Martin Maurer facilitated a
discussion of best practices and models suggested by the participants
themselves. As a result of this discussion an action plan was noted
down.
The fact that the group was not large
contributed greatly to the effectiveness of discussions. The time
together was used in a most constructive manner and there has been a
common expectation of specific outcomes as a result of the meetings.
Overall, the conference has proved to be a wonderful opportunity to
build upon the previous experience of a few countries and further spread
Crown Forums into new ones.

"During the last half year, our main volunteer and Leadership Team
members, Attilio and Elisabeth Cibien have trained 350 Budget Counselors
and 100 Debt Counselors. It is on their heart to help build a strong
network of lay volunteers within churches all through Switzerland who
are able to help three types of people, whether they are believers or
seekers. The first is the 'green' group which contains those who only
need a little help to structure their financial processes in such a way
that they will begin practicing better habits and living as better
stewards. The 'yellow' group are those who are in debt but are able to
become free of their monthly payment within three year. And finally, the
'red' group are those who are in debt and have no hope of getting out
of debt within three years.
